Duty of candour

The Scottish Government website has guidance and further information on the Duty of Candour procedure, which is a legal duty that sets out how organisations should tell those affected that an unintended or unexpected incident appears to have caused harm or death. 

 

Community optometry practices

Contractors providing General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) in Scotland are legally required under the GOS Terms of Service to have, at each place at which they provide GOS, relevant notices and leaflets prominently displayed that provide further information on GOS and patient eligibility for NHS optical vouchers.

To support practices in complying with this legal requirement, and with other matters, the following list contains links to relevant resources which practices can use appropriately:

* Printed copies can be ordered via the practice's normal NHS Board stationery ordering process

** A2 size printed copies can be ordered from NHS Counter Fraud Services by emailing nss.cfspct@nhs.scot  

*** Printed copies must be printed off by the practice (i.e. it cannot be ordered via the practice's normal NHS Board stationery ordering process)
