Differential diagnosis

  • Diabetic macular oedema
  • Retinal vein occlusion
  • Neovascular age-related macular degeneration

Possible management by Optometrist

  • If patient symptomatic
    • POM Nepafenac 1mg per ml three times a day for six weeks
    • or POM Ketorolac 0.3% three times a day for six weeks

  • None

Advice

  • Usually spontaneously resolves
  • Only refer if symptomatic
